Beneath the Noise, 2025, is a Solo-Exhibition of paintings by April at SWG3- A legendary music & cultural venue in the heart of Glasgow. The show concludes a year-long graduate studio residency April undertook after graduating from her master's degree at The Glasgow School of Art.

“In cities we build and rebuild and we do not ask why.”
— Janice Galloway

Glasgow is a city in constant motion—building, unbuilding, shifting its weight through rain and light. Janice Galloway’s words speak to this restlessness, the layered history of a place shaped by industry, reinvention, and everyday resilience. It is a city that holds contradiction: the clang of steel beside birdsong, brutalist concrete softened by climbing plants, pace and pause existing side by side.

This is the backdrop—and the collaborator—for April’s work. Her paintings are in conversation with the textures of Glasgow: the post-industrial spaces, the city centre’s pulse, the quieter corners where life unfolds. They are also rooted in the intimate daily rituals that define a creative life here, one breath at a time.
