Breathing
Breathing, 2025, Diptych, Oil on raw Canvas, 180cm x 120cm x 5cm.
Breathing is a series about tempo—of the world, of the body, of daily life. In the restless pace of Glasgow city centre, these works are a conscious effort to slow down. To find rhythm in pause within hustle.
April walks with her partner, Garrett, to get their daily coffee. The coffee shop staff know them by name now. They know the order—flat white, black americano—but also the holidays, the colds, the passing details of life. In this shared familiarity, the city softens. People make place.
After graduating, the choice was made to breathe—to shift into a more balanced, intentional creative path. These paintings look outward, drawing from the wider environment, while also looking inward—weaving transcripts of present experience, daily rituals, and mutual support into the work.
